RONALD (RON) WALKER

We are saddened to announce the passing of Ronald (Ron) Walker on the morning of August 16, 2025, at the age of 87. Ron was born on January 22, 1938, in Winnipeg, and remained there to ‘live the good life’ by raising his family and contributing to his local community.
Ron was a passionate, caring and creative individual, interested in all things related to news, global events, art and communication. Often called “Walker the talker” you could usually find him happily sharing stories and chatting about current events with friends, family, and every one in between. Before his retirement Ron enjoyed a long career at the Winnipeg Free Press (1967 to 1999) as a pressman and the man in charge of the floor for many years. For over 30 years his work ensured that the Free Press was ready and waiting for his community each day, ready to break the news, and serving as a way to bring the community together each day over their morning coffee.
Ron was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by: wife Carol Walker; daughters, Wendy (Mike), Sharon, and Connie (Vance); grandchildren, Amanda (Scott), Andrew (Jasmyn), Nichol (Daniel), Mellissa (Antoine), and Emma (Brett); great-grandchildren, Isla, Vaeda, Luna, Theo, and Mabel.
Ronald's life will be celebrated privately by his immediate family. We thank you for your love and kindness as we adjust to life without Ron. In lieu of flowers,  a donation may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
