Ted passed peacefully at home with his family by his side at the age of 84. Beloved husband of Marge, father of Jackie (Tim), and proud grandfather of Freddy and Marley, Ted will be remembered for his warmth, generosity, and zest for life.
Born in Winnipeg and raised in Gimli, Ted served in the Royal Canadian Navy before building a 27 year career with National Cash Register (NCR). He and Marge shared 56 wonderful years of marriage, generously welcoming family and friends into their home and farm, and enjoying travel, gardening, and time outdoors. A devoted Blue Bombers fan, community volunteer, and environmental steward, Ted lived a life rooted in kindness and connection.
A Celebration of Ted's Life will be held on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. at FortWhyte Alive Buffalo Crossing, 2505 McGillivray Boulevard.
Please honour Ted’s memory by picking up a piece of litter on a walk, recycling and composting, helping a neighbor, or simply taking time to chat with someone who could use a friendly conversation - the everyday acts of kindness that made Ted who he was. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Avent Family Fund at the Winnipeg Foundation.
