Ian Craig

February 8, 1951 – October 14, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce Ian’s sudden passing. He will forever be missed by his wife Carole; sons David (Norma), Matthew (Andrea); grandsons Andrew and Zane; step great-grandchildren Samuel and Miles; his sister Ruth-Anne, and brother Steven; nephews Daniel and Cameron; brother-in-law Randy (Claudette), and sister-in-law Claudette (Otto). He will also be missed by friends Bob, Bill, Leon, Craig, and all other garage buddies.

Ian ran his own electrical distributor business and programming for automation. He was a great sports fan but especially loved watching his sons’ and grandsons’ games. Ian enjoyed his mountain biking and never “ended up in the river” although coming close many times.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

In Lieu of flowers, donations to the Manitoba Camping-Sunshine fund would be appreciated.

Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • I had some fun times with Ian when we worked together at Hi-Tech. I always enjoyed Ian's "never give up" attitude toward his Jeep. He always kept it running even after having to overcome various different attacks and mishaps. It wasn't hard to convince him that we had to go swimming in the outdoor pool at our hotel in Scottsdale on one trip in February. Then we also managed to explain curling to a young sales guy at a custom golf shop. Yes, sliding on ice, "throwing rocks" not wearing spikes. - Posted by: Robert Dennis (Co-worker) on: Oct 20, 2025

  • We are very saddened to hear of Ian’s passing. I will always remember some of the incredible stories my uncle would tell me about Ian in his younger years, he was truly one of a kind and will be missed by so many. Our most sincere condolences to Carole, Ruth-Anne and the entire family… from Jonathon, Brittny, Quentin and Lorelai Liewicki - Posted by: Jonathon and Brittny Liewicki (Family friend) on: Oct 19, 2025

  • Carole I heard of Ian's passing today from my brother Robert. Ian and I were good friends in high school and 2 months apart in age. I always admired the two of you for starting your life together at such a young age and then staying together. I remember waking up on the grass at his feet one day on Lyndal drive. He looked down at me and said " now are you ready for your second boxing lesson??" My condolences. Calvin Buss - Posted by: Calvin B. Buss (Good Buddy) on: Oct 18, 2025

  • Carole, we are so very sorry for your loss. Our thoughts are with you and your family during this difficult time. May his memory forever be a blessing. Ron and Marie Gregorashuk - Posted by: Marie Gregorashuk (Friend) on: Oct 18, 2025

  • We are so shocked and saddened by this news. We are thinking of Carole and all of Ian's family at this difficult time of a well loved man gone too soon. We were Ian and Carole's backlane neighbours for about 30 years. We enjoyed all the quick hellos and chats over the years. Ian was often around, coming or going on his bike or working on something in the garage. He had an endearing, unassuming quality about him that drew people to him as we witnessed by his many garage buddies and our own experiences. Thank you Ian for having been a great neighbour. You will be missed and remembered. - Posted by: Bernard and Michelle Poirier (neighbour for 30 years) on: Oct 18, 2025

  • Carol my thoughts are with you and David and Matthew and your whole family. Ian will be remembered for his sense of humour and smarts by everyone that knew him. - Posted by: Trevor McCaffrey (Friend) on: Oct 17, 2025
