LILLIAN ELIZABETH CASSELMAN

(nee HANSLIP)

August 28, 1919 - October 5, 2025

Lillian Elizabeth (Hanslip) Casselman, 106, passed away peacefully in Eriksdale, Manitoba on October 5, 2025. Born August 28, 1919 in Roseisle, Manitoba. Lillian - known to all as Lil - grew up in Eriksdale after the family moved there in her early years. It was in that close knit community that she met Clifford Casselman, the love of her life, and together they forged a partnership of devotion, and adventure.

In 1949, Lil and Cliff moved north to Snow Lake, a bold step into a new chapter. For three decades they worked side by side at the Snow Lake Post Office, a role Lil cherished and enjoyed deeply. She greeted every customer with a smile and genuine helpfulness that made her a beloved fixture.

After retiring, the couple settled in Mulvihill and enjoyed years of gardening and travel until Cliff’s passing in 1987. Lil returned to her beloved Eriksdale and enjoyed picking up her sisters for long drives in the familiar countryside, stopping at every coffee shop for muffins and conversation.

Lil treasured her winters in the south, visiting daughter Arlene and son-in-law Ronald Tuttle, and especially time with her grandson Jeff, his wife Becky, and great-grandchildren, Lauren, Emily and Andrew. In 2024 a rare and beautiful moment unfolded when five generations gathered in Eriksdale to celebrate the arrival of great-great-grandson Archie Eastley and to honour Lil’s long happy life - a testament to the family she held so dear.

Predeceased by her husband Clifford, son-in-law Ronald Tuttle and sisters, Elva Lindell, Charlotte (Lottie ) Dowsett Yaworski, Pearl Heroux and Margaret Van de Vooren, Lil is survived by her daughter Arlene Tuttle, grandson Jeff Tuttle, his wife Becky, great-grandchildren, Lauren Tuttle, Emily Eastley (Cody) and Andrew Tuttle, great-great-grandsons, Archie and Jeremy Eastley, brother John Hanslip, and a wide circle of cherished nieces and nephews.

The family extends profound gratitude to the compassionate dedicated staff at the Eriksdale Personal Care Home for their loving care, and to the many friends and especially her loving relatives who visited faithfully, bringing comfort and joy to Lil’s final years.

A celebration of her remarkable life will be held at a later date.
