Surrounded by family, Cecil Pereira passed away peacefully while listening to the music of Joan Baez.
Family man, Professor, intellectual, athlete, coach, sports fan, activist, philanthropist, volunteer, visionary, and fun-loving free spirit.
He will be missed by his sister Winifred Pereira, daughter Asha Pereira (Grant Edwards), son Matthew Pereira, granddaughters: Ally Pereira-Edwards (Ian Beattie), Veronica Lowry-Pereira, Marlo Pereira-Edwards, Parker Pereira, grandson Logan Edwards, nephew David Fernandes, granddog Blue, the extended Pereira/Singh/Fernandes family, and many friends.
Dr. Pereira was predeceased by his parents, two brothers, and four of his sisters. He was heartbroken by the accidental death of his son Jai and Jai's partner Alana Lowry in 2001.
Cremation has taken place according to his wishes, and a Celebration of his Life is planned for his birthday in 2026.
Flowers are gratefully declined, but those who wish to remember him can make a contribution in his name to organizations supporting refugees (UNHCR, N.E.E.D.S Inc, etc).
