KAZUE (KAZ) TERAMURA

Kazue (Kaz) Teramura peacefully passed away at Hospice House in Kelowna, BC, on December 2, 2025, at the age of 97, surrounded by her family.

Kaz is lovingly remembered by her sons, Daniel (May Jean) and Allan (Kristina Leaning), her daughter Susan McLean (Don McLean), grandchildren Lauren, Eric, Misha, Nicholas, Gabriel, and Isabel, and great-grandchildren Sadie and Paige. She was predeceased by her husband Kenzo and her sister Misao.

Born on September 2, 1928, in New Westminster, BC, Kaz spent her early years in Pitt Meadows, BC. During the war, her family was forced from their land and incarcerated at Hastings Park before being moved to the Tashme internment camp. After the war, Kaz and her family were relocated to Picture Butte, Alberta, where they worked on a sugar beet farm.

In 1950, Kaz married Kenzo Teramura. Together they moved to southern Manitoba and eventually settled in Winnipeg in 1954. From her early days in Winnipeg, Kaz was actively involved in the Manitoba Buddhist Temple, which became an important part of her spiritual, social, and cultural life.

In addition to raising her children, Kaz was known as a talented seamstress. Over the years, she also worked in a garment factory, in retail, and in a phlebotomy lab, where she enjoyed opportunities to meet people and form lasting friendships. Kaz was warm, generous, and caring; she loved getting to know people and cherished her family and friends.

In her later years, Kaz made her home in Kelowna, where she spent a contented time with family, including her two great-grandchildren. The family extends heartfelt thanks to Dr. Thomasse and the staff of Hospice House for their wonderful care.

Flowers gratefully declined. Any donations in Kaz's memory may be made to Hospice House Kelowna (https://hospicehousekelowna.com/how-to-give/), Manitoba Buddhist Temple or a charity of choice.
