JOY KNYSH
With heavy hearts, we are saddened to announce the passing of Joy Ann Knysh of Parkland County, Alberta on August 25, 2025, at the age of 72 years. It is with deep sorrow that we mourn her passing, but we are also celebrating her life and memories of her with much love.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 53 years, Paul; her son, Garret; as well as numerous relatives and all the friends she easily made throughout her lifetime. Joy had the amazing ability to make friends with anyone and everyone due to her magnetic energy and glowing spirit. She had endless compassion that she happily shared with all those she cherished. Joy will also be dearly missed by her friends within the communities of Parkland County, AB, Winnipeg, MB, and Whitehorse, YT. She was predeceased by her brother, Leon, her sister, Donna, and her parents, Peter and Ann.
Joy was born in Winnipeg in 1953, where she met the love of her life, Paul, while they were together in high school. While Paul was still in university, they married and soon after, they moved north to Whitehorse with the spirit for adventure as Paul entered his professional career. Joy was a devoted wife and soon became an amazing mother as well. Throughout her life, Joy exuded pride and endless love for her pet cats and dogs, and she always felt at one when she was tending to her garden. She had a creative flare which she showcased in needlepoint and quilting respectively. Joy was always one to put the needs of others above her own without hesitation.
Our family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at all the medical institutions and facilities that cared for her throughout the years. The Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute in particular stands out for their care and compassion they showed Joy throughout her stays at the institute.
