CLAUDIA LONDON PHILLIPS

Claudia Enid (London) Phillips of Los Angeles, California, passed away on December 23, 2025.

Claudia, a proud Winnipeg native, was born on January 24, 1955, to parents Rosalie (née Birks) and Harry London. The London family later relocated to Northern California.

Claudia earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Middle Eastern Studies from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1976 and her Juris Doctor from the University of San Francisco School of Law in 1979. She pursued a highly successful legal career, serving as an attorney for the Federal Aviation Administration, as Deputy District Attorney for Stanislaus County, and as an associate at Pillsbury, Madison & Sutro and Seyfarth, Fairweather & Geraldson, before later founding her own bankruptcy firm and saving thousands of homes from foreclosure.

Claudia is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Kenneth; two daughters, Sarah and Madeleine; one son, Sam; and two sisters, Shelley and Valerie.

  • I have a lasting vivid memory of time I spent with Claudia many years ago. She was just starting highschool and I was taking some post graduate courses in law at Berkeley. Harry and Rosie would often have me over for supper and Claudia would usually be present. At these dinners, Claudia began to ask me about being a lawyer and was it interesting work. As a result of those conversations I spoke with my professor and asked him if I could bring my niece with me to a couple of classes, as she showed interest in the law. He agreed and Claudia joined me for several classes. It was a long ride back and forth from Berkeley. However, time went quickly as Claudia had many more thoughtful questions about the law than I had answers. Those memories will last forever. - Posted by: Charles Birks (Uncle) on: Jan 10, 2026
