Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Initially Susan and I were colleagues in the Office of the Dean of Medicine, U of M. We soon also became friends. Susan’s love of history and her enquiring mind made her a very valuable member of the team, not only in the Office of the Dean, but also in the Archives of the faculty. Any time I had a question relating to history, Susan was right there with the answer. And she always had the correct answer. My sincere condolences to Ed and family. I will miss Susan and will always remember her and her warm, welcoming smile. - Posted by: Mary Hill (Colleague and Friend) on: Jan 13, 2026

  • I remember starting at the Neil John Maclean Health Sciences Library and knowing very little about medicine and the health sciences. Through Susan's patience, generosity and good humour I learned about the history of medicine locally and how it shaped our programs and institution at the University of Manitoba. She and Audrey Kerr tirelessly kept critical biographical information and institutional information that is still valued and consulted today. I will remember her as a kind soul who cared very much for her family and her passion for history. - Posted by: Carol Cooke (Colleague at UM) on: Jan 12, 2026

  • My sincerest condolences to Ed and the family. My heart is with you during this time of deep sadness. - Posted by: Cory Wiebe (Friend) on: Jan 10, 2026
