Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROBERT WILLIAM RICHARDSON
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Robert William Richardson, beloved husband of Denise (Vandoorne) Richardson on January 13, 2026. Bob was born in Brandon on June 9, 1944 to Tom and Beatrice Richardson.
Bob was employed by Massey Ferguson from 1964 to 1967 as a service rep and then became a fire fighter with the Brandon Fire Department in 1967. He retired on February 14th, 2001 and served in many capacities during his career. He was Brandon’s First Fire Training Officer – a position he held for 7 years and then decided to go back to shift work as a Shift Captain for 8 years before his retirement.
Bob participated in provincial curling championships and later loved mixed curling with friends and family. He also coached hockey teams to provincial championships and then became a spectator as he enjoyed watching his children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren play hockey. He enjoyed curling, fishing, camping and his winter holidays where he especially loved Costa Rica, Ecuador, Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.
Bob always loved a good joke and shared many with his fire fighter friends over coffee or a beer.
Bob bought Murray’s Fire Extinguisher business and then bought Safety Centre’s extinguisher portion to add to his business. He sold it and decided to drive school bus and the Brandon Air Shuttle for a few years, but his true calling was the fire industry. He then established The Competitor Fire Extinguisher Company and later sold it and intended to travel more. His health issues had other plans though and his last trip was to the Bahamas.
He leaves to mourn his wife of 35 years Denise; His children: Craig (Carla), Darren (Tammy), Keith (Jamie), Jill (Chris) Brown, Shawn (Pam) and his grandchildren Lucas and Lauren Richardson, Robyn (David) Reimer and Sarah Brown, Rylan and Teagan Richardson, Dylan and Riley Penner. Great-Grandchildren – Landon and Blake Reimer. He also leaves behind his sister Bernice and many nieces who loved him like their own Dad.
Bob was predeceased by his father - Tom in 1952, mother – Beatrice (Gran) in 1990, brother – Tom in 2016 and brother - Donnie in 2025.
In keeping with Bob’s wishes a cremation has taken place and there will be no formal service. If you wish to remember Bob a donation to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or Diabetes Association is greatly appreciated.

I had the privilege of working with Bob for 8 or my 20 years in the Fire Service in Brandon. I enjoyed my time with Bob during various activities including playing hockey. He was a steady & dependable defenceman. We enjoyed CFL football travelling to Wpg. for Blue Bomber/Rider games. We also enjoyed numerous social activities with our group of BFD friends. I left Brandon to work in Swift Current in 1991 then Medicine Hat for another 21 years in the Fire Service. As we kept our cottage near Ninette until 2021, we were able to stay in contact with Bob. We will miss Bob and his friendly disposition. Rest in Peace 0l'buddy !!! - Posted by: Allan & Wendy Guest (Friend & Fire Fighter) on: Jan 19, 2026

When I travelled back to Brandon in June and Sept I enjoyed visits with Bob. He always greeted me with a huge smile of welcome. We communicated like old friends and always had great memories to laugh about. He always asked about Allan and our family, then he would tell me stories of hope the he and his wife would travel again soon. I will always remember Bob with a smile! My thoughts are with his family, always remember your memories and he will be with you. Wendy Guest - Posted by: Wendy Guest (Fire friend) on: Jan 18, 2026
