Jim Mark Simmons passed away peacefully with family by his side at the Assiniboine Centre on Monday, January 12, 2026 at the age of 87 years.
Jim will be lovingly remembered by his wife Pat and sons Mark (Dara), Jason (Magda) and Marty (Kaley). Jim spent most of his career in education at Shilo, MB and will be fondly remembered by former students and colleagues.
A Memorial Service will take place at Redeemer Lutheran & St. George’s Anglican Church, 114 Ashgrove Blvd., on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 at 11:00 a.m.

Mr. Simmons was possibly the best history teacher that I had. He went out of his way to make you want to learn about the subjects he taught, whether about the world or Canada or Manitoba.
