On Friday, January 9, 2026, after a long battle with ALS, Rita Marie McAdam, 71, passed peacefully surrounded by family at Riverview Health Centre in Winnipeg, MB.
Most sincere thanks to the staff at Riverview Health Centre 2 East for their years of care.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the ALS Society of Canada are appreciated.
A private service will be held this summer in Rita’s honour.

My deepest condolences to Rita's entire family. Rita and I met in grade 7 and were best friends for years and years. As life got busy, we grew apart, but when we did get to talk or see each other, we picked up right where we left off. Over the years, since she became ill, I phoned the hospital every few months, especially on special occaisions, and had them inform Rita that she was in my thoughts and heart, Rita, I will miss you, but you deserve peace and relief from the pain you have endured these last few years.
