PETE (PETER) MARYKUCA
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Pete (Peter) Marykuca, who passed away peacefully on January 18, 2026 at the age of 87 years with his family by his side.
Predeceased by his parents, Stephan and Anne (nee Zarowski) Marykuca, sister Lillian, brothers, Mervin, Benny and Eddy; and his son-in-law, Rick.
Peter is survived by his beloved wife Cecily (Nagel) of 58 years; children, Robin, Ron (Cindy), Randy (Effie), Regan (Don); grandchildren, Ryan (Katelyn), Kara (Troy), Rachele (Ryan), and Steven (Jazmine); his cherished great-grandchildren, Emersyn, Presley and Miles; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.
Born July 5,1938 Peter was proud to be from Winnipeg’s north end where he and his siblings grew up. He worked many years for Parkside Ford where he became well known in the trucking industry. No matter how busy he was he always made time for his family and friends especially when it came to fishing or just being outdoors. The carpentry skills passed down from his father helped him construct his rural home which he enjoyed for many of his later years. Peter was an avid Blue Bomber and Jets fan regardless of their standings.
Special thanks to the staff at Health Sciences Centre for their professionalism and compassion.
As per Peter's last wishes, a cremation has taken place and a private Celebration of Life will be scheduled for a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Health Sciences Centre Foundation.

Sympathies & So Very Sorry to hear of Peter's passing. I remember the friendship, visits & dealings with Peter and my Father at Parkside Ford many years ago. I also lost my Father over 9 months ago & was very grateful for Peter reaching out to me. Peter was a very friendly, generous, giving man. Peter, was a big part of the Copper family , growing up I can remember Pete and my dad always planning the next trip , pouring over maps at the kitchen table during the winter. Then in spring loading up the truck and boat "Pete we've got too much gear" my Dad would say. For years they explored the trails , rivers and lakes of Manitoba. Whether it was a big trip like Molson Lake or just hanging out at the "Ponderosa" Pete and Ernie where best friends , bonded by their love of the outdoors.... Maybe they are planning one now. - Posted by: William Copper (friend) on: Jan 25, 2026
