George Abram Neufeld, age 91, died peacefully in the St. Boniface Palliative Care unit on January 28, 2026 with his wife Linda at his side following a short illness. He is survived by his wife Linda Whitford, his children Heather Neufeld, Hazel Dean (Hal), Myron Neufeld (Barb), Heidi Roblesky (Ken) and Ramona Zaharia (Don), his step-children Paul Rivieria, and Anne Whitford Fast, (Reynold), 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and his brother Waldo Neufeld (Eleanor).
George lived a long and complex life that was always evolving and changing. After leaving school after grade 8, he returned to complete his high school at age 18 when he was called to the ministry, and for the remainder of his life he remained a lifelong student. George wore many hats over his long career. He was a farmer, the principal of Elim Bible College, a hospital chaplain, a marriage and family therapist, a clinical supervisor of pastoral care and the first Spiritual Care Coordinator of Manitoba Health.
George was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather and he will be missed by his family and all those whose path he crossed in his journey.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., March 14, 2026, at Fort Garry Mennonite Fellowship, 150 Bayridge Avenue, Winnipeg MB. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Mennonite Central Committee or the charity of your choice.
