RICHARD OLIVER BUNN


It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Richard Oliver (Rick) Bunn on January 30, 2026. Rick is survived by his mother Linda, sister Debra (Byron) and brother Leslie Jr (Rebecca).

He also leaves to cherish his memory, nieces, Charlene, Dakota (Shelby), Azariah, Lacy, Amarrah, Lauryn, Jennifer, Jewels, Kristy and Jamie; his nephews Terence, Kevin (Felicia), Aleks, Tyler and Leo. Survived by his maternal uncle Lloyd, and aunts Laura (Don), and Suzanne (Tom). Paternal uncle Tom and aunt Grace. He is also survived by many cousins, friends and family.

Rick is predeceased by his father Cecil Starr, maternal grandparents Annie and Frank Bunn, paternal grandparents James and Flora Starr. Sister Natalie, nieces Lindsay Rae and Ashley. Brothers Justin Frank, Michael and Waylon/Chap, and baby nephew Leslie III. Maternal aunts Mary Louise, Lillian, Margaret, Malie, Alice and Theresa. Paternal aunts Flora, Christine, Lucille, Bertha, and Muriel. Maternal uncles Alfred, Frank Jr, Franklin and Brian. Paternal uncles Walter, Douglas and George.

Rick had such a kind heart, he was always ready to help his family and friends. His presence will be missed by many, he had a way of making people smile. Being with friends was important to him, sharing tales, creating memories and enjoying life! He touched so many with his selflessness, laughter and deep love for his family. His struggles were many, but he never complained about his pain or hurts. His strength, a reflection of his character, his generous nature and carefree spirit. You will not be forgotten...Slick, The Mayor!

Wake service will begin on Friday, February 6, 2026, 3:00 p.m. at the Christ Anglican Church Hall, Sagkeeng First Nation. A final viewing will begin at 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 9, 2026, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at the Christ Anglican Church. Burial to follow immediately after service at John Bunn Memorial Cemetery, North Shore Rd Sagkeeng. Feast to follow at Christ Anglican Church Hall. Richard and Nancy Bruyere officiating. Cross-bearers - Byron Starr and Keith Twoheart. Pallbearers - Leslie Dorie Jr., Gary Bruyere, Earl Starr, Justin Prince, Kelly Zacharias, and Fabian Bunn.
