WALTER TATARYN

September 9, 1937 - February 14, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our father, Walter Tataryn, at the age of 88 on February 14, 2026.

Dad was predeceased by his wife Roselle (nee Chabot) on June 9, 2025, his brother Joe, and his parents, Anton and Sofie Tataryn.

Left to lovingly cherish his memory are his daughters, Sheri Kressock (Mike), Linda Juergensen (Olaf), Barbara Tataryn (Yves), his six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dad was born in St. Boniface on September 9, 1937, where he lived until his marriage to Roselle in 1963. Dad and Mom moved to East Kildonan in 1967, where they raised their family and lived until their passing.

Dad was a lifelong member of St. Boniface Golf Course, since as early as 10 years of age, and was Senior Club Champion. It was at the golf course where Dad met some of his closest friends to this day.

Dad worked as a carman for Canadian Pacific Railway from 1956 to 1993. He was also part of the auxiliary team responsible for clearing derailments for all of Manitoba and part of Ontario.

Besides golf, Dad would fix and restore cars for most of his life. Dad was able to pretty much repair anything and also loved to explain to us how everything worked. Whenever Dad was called upon by friends, family and neighbours to make repairs for them, he was always happy and able to comply. Dad’s friendly nature extended to warmly welcoming all of our friends over the years as well.

Dad’s pride and joy was his family. He never hesitated to spend time with his family be it overseas, another province, or the family cottage where he taught us to waterski and drive the boat and car.

We would like to extend our gratitude to Dad’s friends and the staff of 3East Palliative Care at Riverview Health Centre as well as the Palliative Care Intake Team for the care and compassion shown to Dad and us.

In accordance with our father’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family gathering will be held at a later date.

We’ll love and miss you always, Dad.

Wishing you peace,

and give Mom our love.
