Carmen Hyacinth Nembhardt passed away on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Predeceased by her parents, aunts, uncles, she leaves to mourn Tony, Mildred, Peter and Melanie Beach, as well as Hyacinth, Renwick, Julia and Megan Dacosta.
Carmen was born in Jamaica and was educated there as a teacher, graduating from the Shortwood Teacher Training College. She came to Canada in 1960, continuing her education at the University of Manitoba as well as working for the Winnipeg School Division, first as a teacher and later as a school guidance counsellor. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Education, and a Master of Social Work.
Carmen was also fully committed to her Bethel Community Church here in Winnipeg as well as to her Jamaican community, acting as Jamaican Honorary Consul in Manitoba for many years.
Our thanks to the staff of the Golden West Centennial Lodge for their kindness and compassionate care of Carmen over the years.
The service will be Friday, February 27, 2026, 12:30 p.m. at Bethel Community Church, 430 Lakewood Blvd, Winnipeg.
