Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANNE MARJORIE BAZAN
With gratitude for a life filled with love, laughter and lasting impact, the family of Anne Marjorie Bazan (Shalay) announce her peaceful passing on January 22, 2026, at the age of 99.
Mom lived most of her life in Cook's Creek but moved to Winnipeg after Dad died. After high school, she obtained her teaching certificate and began teaching at the age of 17. One of her proudest accomplishments was going back to university in her 50s to obtain her Bachelor of Education degree. Mom loved teaching and her students, with some maintaining contact, until her death.
Bubbi loved family, friends, the cabin, dancing and travelling and she tried to incorporate all of her loves as often as possible. She travelled to South America, Asia, Australia, Malaysia and cruised through Europe, always with family or friends. She loved spending her winters in Yuma, and while there, made many lasting friendships. Mom loved to paint and do ceramics and together with her mother, took many art classes in Oakbank and Transcona. A passion Mom shared with her family is her love of cards. She played Kanasta and would often challenge anyone to a game, even if they did not know the rules. In her 80s, with failing eyesight, Bubbi still loved a rousing game of Spoons at the cabin with her grandchildren, often prepared to go diving across the table to grab a spoon. She had an adventurous and indomitable spirit right until her last days.
Mom leaves behind her devoted children, Darrell (Laura) and Janus (Tony) and her beloved grandchildren, Mack, Katryna, Alexander, Marcus and Eros, as well as, her loving sister Arlene (Ron), and sisters-in-law, Judy and Rose. Also left to mourn are numerous cousins, nephews, nieces and many close friends.
Anne was predeceased by her loving husband Peter, her beautiful daughter Cheryl, her special brother and sister Alexander and Alice and her loving parents, Margaret and Alexander.
Her family is appreciative and thankful for the professional, compassionate care she received from the staff at the Victoria Hospital and for her health companion, Annabelle, who always treated Mom with love, respect and dignity.
Anne's funeral service will be held on Friday, March 13, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Ukrainian Catholic Church in Cooks Creek, Manitoba.

Ann was so full of life, she loved her family. She was always interested in every child. Her smiles and laughter lit up a room. My Mother sewed clothes for her and everyone else. There was always family gatherings and there was always great food and happy conversations with cousins and friends. Her sister Alice was married to my Uncle Jim and I was so heartbroken when she died. Ann lived a full life, family meant everything to her. My Condolences to all those family, she will be greatly missed. - Posted by: Ken Kowaluk (She was my Cousins Aunt) on: Feb 28, 2026
