Elizabeth Isaak passed away peacefully on February 23, 2026, after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
She was born on October 31, 1962, with a gentle spirit and a life that would include many physical challenges. Liz is now free from the limitations her body placed on her ability to walk, speak, and learn. We take comfort in knowing she is whole and unburdened, able to run freely in heaven without the need for a wheelchair.
Despite the obstacles she faced, Liz graduated from school, worked for several years, and learned to communicate using her computer. Her determination and quiet perseverance were an inspiration to those who knew her. Everyone who knew Liz loved her and was touched by her joyful, loving nature.
She leaves behind her devoted and loving mother and primary caregiver, Sonja Isaak; her sisters, Cindy (Yardley Ploegman) and Barb (Paul Galessiere); her niece, Aleah (Aaron Unger); her nephew, Daniel; and many supportive friends. We are especially grateful for the love and compassionate care shown by the staff at Calvary Place PCH.
Liz was predeceased by her father, Arthur Isaak, and her beloved aunt Elsie. She will be remembered for her sweet innocence, her remarkable precision in remembering significant dates, her wonderful sense of humor, and her love of all things orange and pumpkin - a fitting tribute to her October 31 birthday.
“Praise the Lord, my soul; all my innermost being, praise His holy name.” Psalm 103:1.
A celebration of Liz’s Life will be held at Springs Church, 725 Lagimodiere, at 12 noon on March 7.
In lieu of flowers, charitable donations may be made to the Springs Church “Build the Future” new building campaign.

I first met Liz when she became a resident of Calvary place. I am sure most people who met her and knew her would say they were “Bestest” friends. I will ever be thankful for her life on this earth. She possessed the ability to always make you feel important and special. I am very thankful that her mother devoted her life to making the best life she could for Liz. This definitely gave Liz the strength to be who she was. From having her clothes Ironed to keeping her room inspirationally decorated to giving her the best nutrition she could. It was above and beyond! Liz knew she was loved dearly by her mother and her whole family. In turn she loved all of us. Ever am I thankful for Liz enriching my life! Thank you Liz! - Posted by: Kathleen Macdonald (Friend) on: Mar 05, 2026

Dear Elizabeth was a friend to me from when I was a teenager, over 50 years ago. I always loved her attractive smile and infectious attitude. I was '"On" to her. She had a large heart, was easily moved and showed a good temper when poked enough. I know, I poked it enough. My brother Rob and I would often toss her crutches on top of the eating shelter at Kildonan Park and walk away. After we got the middle-finger wave we'd always bring them back to her. What a good soul. She was always very sensitive to the Spirit and I just loved our hugs and kisses. I know right know she's chasing Rob around heaven somewhere, getting even with him and praising God with her whole heart and her new found freedom. God bless you dear Liz. Sonja & family, we are so sorry to hear of Elizabeth's passing. Sonja, you were a huge pillar in her life, you gave all you had and more and it showed over and over. I will never forget the years I looked after her on my night shifts and getting her ready in the mornings. We had some great laughs together, shared some special moments together....It was a honour taking care of her, learning to communicate with her in person or through the computer I will never forget, seeing her beautifully decorated room from season to season was so special right down to her bedding. There was no lack of love thats for sure. Seeing her smile and getting warm hugs were a big part of the end of my shifts. RIP dear friend, you will never be forgotten, you were so very special and loved by so many. Take care Sonja & family....deepest sympathies...Love from Jodi & Journey Atamanchuk - Posted by: Jodi Atamanchuk (Friend) on: Mar 04, 2026

elizabeth is now free from all the restrictions that she had while on this earth. she is with our Lord God and Lord Jesus for all eternity in addition to all her loved ones that went before her. she was such a loving, kind individual who deserves the peace and joy she now has. sonja, you were both so blessed with having each other in your lives. you are a wonderful mother. this parting of each other is only temporary and it will seem like a blink of an eye when you are together again, never to be parted. until then keep the faith knowing she's experiencing all the wonders of heaven and there will be no more suffering or challanges for her. she's at peace now. - Posted by: joanne wiebe (friend) on: Mar 02, 2026
