LORI ANN LYONS

February 9, 1970 – February 22, 2026

Lori Ann Lyons passed away peacefully, with family by her side in the early hours of February 22, 2026 after a long bout of pneumonia.

Lori Ann was born February 9, 1970 at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, MB to Jim and Hennie Lyons. Lori Ann entered this world as a Down Syndrome Child with nothing but the world to conquer, and as such she developed as a child that would have many opportunities. When she was 12, she suffered a debilitating stroke that would change the course of her path for the rest of her life.

Despite the extra challenges, she returned to her group home in Virden and continued with school until she was 21. In the early 1990’s Lori Ann moved back to Brandon into a group home on Lawrence Crescent and began attending COR Enterprises every day.

Lori Ann loved her time and the family that became hers at COR. She made many friends and gained the love of many workers there with Terry, Cindy and Alana being some of her favourites. Lori Ann performed many jobs while at COR, she worked in the crafts department and as of late enjoyed working in the kitchen. Over the years, Lori Ann was also a big participant with the Special Olympics and was a very good 5 Pin bowler.

Lori Ann was predeceased by her grandparents Frank and Rose Lyons and Andy and Fredrika Verstok. She will be lovingly remembered by her parents Jim and Hennie Lyons, sister Sherry (Kirby) Baumung and nieces Amanda and Cassidy Baumung.

The family invites you to join them for a Celebration of Lori Ann’s life at the Backyard on Aberdeen, 1624 13th Street, Brandon, on Saturday, March 14, 2026 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Donations in memory of Lori Ann may be made to COR Enterprises, 365 Park Ave. East, Brandon, MB R7A 7A8 or to the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation, 150 McTavish Avenue East, Brandon, MB, R7A 2B3.
