Cindy Dudar, 62, of Winnipeg, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer. Cindy was a devoted mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt and beloved friend who lived a life of love, strength and resilience.
Cindy was born August 10, 1961 in Nipawin, Saskatchewan to James and Roxanne Brenzen. She attended Kildonan East Collegiate in Winnipeg, followed by completing a Nursing Diploma from the Health Sciences Centre. Cindy began her 35 year career at the Health Sciences Centre in the burn unit, then working in various departments and ending her career in the gastroenterology unit. Cindy served others with unwavering compassion and expertise. She was known for having a calming presence, a heart full of kindness and a gentle touch that made every patient feel at ease.
Cindy and Wayne were married July 11, 1987, sharing 41 years of love together. One of their favourite places to spend time together was at the cabin. It was there that Mom found her greatest peace, welcoming a constant stream of new faces and familiar ones that stumbled on in. She was very proud of the beautiful lily garden she planted, which has grown over many years.
Mom loved me beyond what words can describe, going above and beyond to put a smile on my face. From volunteering on field trips to surprising me in the airport that we were going to Walt Disney World, Mom always had a way of making things special. She even made the smallest moments feel significant. She supported me even when she didn't need to and helped me through my hardest moments, even when she was going through her own.
Through her illness, she persevered with courage and hope right until the end, when it was apparent things were not in our favour. In the short time from diagnosis, we were able to visit old friends and spend a wonderful summer at the cabin, loving each day for what it gave us. Even in the hospital, Mom made great memories and made friends with the people who helped care for her. One of her favourite visitors was Ben, who always put a smile on her face when he walked in and always reminded her how beautiful she was when he left.
Cindy left a lasting impact on everyone that had the pleasure of meeting her. You were always sure to get one of her great big hugs, to make you feel right at home wherever you were. Her beautiful golden retrievers Charlie and Brody can speak for us all, that her warming presence is missed dearly.
To celebrate Cindy's life, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Your gift will help advance research and support services for those affected by cancer.
