PHILIP DOUGLAS BAUCH

August 24, 1954 - March 24, 2026

With heavy hearts we announce the death of Philip Douglas Bauch at the age of 71, on March 24, 2026.

Philip leaves to mourn his passing his wife Shirley; daughter Lindsay; son-in-law Jeffrey Clarke; most loved grandson Cole; sister Debbie (Tim) Tindall; brothers, Lyle (Brendalee), Darrel (Joanne), Dean (Robyn); Godchildren, Janeen Tindall, Meagan Crawford and Sandahl Reykdal; as well as numerous family members.

He is predeceased by his daughter Laurel; parents, Gerhard and Mildred Bauch; brother Dennis; and in-laws, Alexander and Frances Shabaga.

Philip “Butch” was born in Ashern, MB and grew up on the family farm in the New Home District. At nine years old he was driving the tractor. He helped hay with uncle Harry and uncle Colin. Drove the fuel truck one summer for Albert Meisner. Also worked at the Moosehorn Creamery. After high school Philip was employed by Leo Peterson in Ashern. Philip met Shirley in Moosehorn in 1974. His sister Debbie introduced them. When he moved to Winnipeg, he worked alongside his brother Dennis laying bricks. After three years, Philip and Shirley moved to Moosehorn and were married September 1978. Phil worked with Dad doing carpentry in the area, later on Karl Bauch joined them. After Dad’s passing, Phil and Karl continued and Bauch Construction was born.

In 1984, alongside his Dad, father-in-law, brothers and brother-in-law Barry, our home was built near Moosehorn.

Phil was a volunteer fireman for Moosehorn Fire Department for over 30 years. A member of the Peace Lutheran Church Council. An avid reader of Winnipeg Free Press Saturday papers. Listened to Saturday Nite Polka Party on CFRY radio. Phil loved watching sports especially curling and hockey. He was a home body who set many puzzles. Helped Shirley make perogies, always sneaking a few. Our Cole was the apple of Grandpa’s eye. We have many memories to share with Cole.

A huge hug to our family and friends for all their support over the years. We are so grateful to all the staff at the Lakeshore General Hospital/Dialysis Unit for Philip’s care. Especially Dr. Chumber and Dr. Nishat.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 11, 2026 in Peace Lutheran Church, Moosehorn, MB with Dawn Tober officiating. A light lunch will follow in Moosehorn Community Hall. A private interment will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
