EDGAR DAIGNEAULT

Surrounded by his family, Edgar Daigneault passed away peacefully at home on Friday, April 10, 2026, at the age of 92. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 65 years, Madeleine Daigneault (née Morin).

Dad will be sadly missed by his family; daughter Monique (Raymond), grandchildren Danika (Lucas), Justin (Jordyn), Stefan (Alexa), Jolene (Brent), Chantel (Chad); son Robert (Vanda), grandchildren Silvia, Mariella, and Madeleina; and daughter Gisèle (Wayne), grandchildren Caitlin and Samantha (Jeremy).

He is also survived by his sister, Marielle Lubben; sisters-in-law Evelyne Morin, Eva Morin, and Odile Langelier; and brother-in-law Arthur Morin.

Dad was predeceased by his parents, Philippe and Antonia (née Neault); his sisters Jeannine Godin and Jocelyne Tougas; sister-in-law Marie-Ange Desautels, brothers-in-law Dollard Godin, Louis Tougas, Jack Lubben, Jules Desautels, Lucien Morin, Georges Morin, and George Langelier.

Dad was born on September 11, 1933, in St. Anne, Manitoba. He attended elementary school and later went to Collège Saint-Boniface, where he completed his secondary schooling and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree (Latin philosophy). He spent his summers as a university student serving and training with the Canadian Forces at CFB Shilo, Manitoba, eventually attaining the rank of Captain.

Dad worked his entire career with the federal government’s Department of Environment, Water Survey Branch. He was particularly proud of his involvement with the Nelson River hydroelectric projects. He retired after 34 years of service.

Dad was a true jack of all trades and master of all, known for building the family cottage and for always having the right tools on hand. He took pride in doing things properly and seeing them through. He remained a lifelong learner, with a particular love of reading and understanding how things worked. Many enjoyable evenings were spent at the cottage, playing cards and spending time with family and friends.

Dad was deeply committed to his family. He believed that family was a privilege and acted accordingly, offering his time, attention, and steady support. His love for his wife, children and grandchildren was constant and evident in both small, everyday moments and larger gestures. He will be greatly missed by all.

The family would like to thank Dr. Grzybowski, as well as the healthcare workers involved in our dad’s care. Special thanks to the Community Palliative Care Program, for their support and professionalism.

The picture presentation and eulogy will begin at 12:30 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 1:00 p.m., which will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at St. Martyrs Canadiens Church, 289 Dussault Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba or a charity of one’s choice.
