CYNTHIA (CINDY) GAIL BUTLER

It is with great sorrow that her family announces the passing of Cindy Butler on May 17, 2026.

Cindy was born on July 18, 1956. She spent her early years at home before being placed in the care of the Portage Developmental Centre and later St. Amant. Cindy lived with cerebral palsy and faced many physical and developmental challenges throughout her life.

Despite the many challenges she faced, Cindy found joy in many things. In her younger years, she thoroughly enjoyed attending camps run by Portage and later St. Amant. She also enjoyed outings to Bomber games, Jets games, wrestling events, and trips to the mall. More than anything, however, she loved spending time with her family. Whether it was weekends at home when her parents were younger, trips to the family cabin, or holiday dinners surrounded by loved ones, Cindy cherished time spent with her parents, siblings, and extended family.

Cindy had a wonderful sense of humour and was often seen laughing at the things she found amusing. Family dinners will not be the same without her.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff who cared for Cindy over the years at both Portage and St. Amant, as well as the many volunteers who spent time with her and helped keep her engaged and entertained.

Cindy is survived by her mother, Edna; her sister Nancy (Trevor); and her brothers, Larry (Dorothy) and Jeff (Alix). She is also survived by her nieces, Morgan, Madison, Carling, and Dayna; her great-nephew Rhyder; and her great-nieces, Summer and Brooke. She was predeceased by her father, Desmond; her sister, Ginny; and her niece, Karen.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in Cindy's memory to the St. Amant Foundation.
