KAREN ANNE BARRY

September 21, 1963 - May 10, 2026

With sadness, we announce the sudden passing of Karen Anne Barry.

Karen will be remembered by siblings Steve, Lynn and Dean (Kate), niece Alexandria and nephews Aaron, Sean (Adria) and Liam. She will also be missed by dear friends in Winnipeg and extended family out east.

She was predeceased by her parents Vernon and Annette Barry.

Karen worked for Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries for 30 years before retiring as Manager, First Nations Gaming, in 2024. We are thankful she was able to enjoy two years of retirement and do some travelling, which she loved.

As per Karen’s wishes, no service will be held and cremation has taken place.

Memorial donations may be made to an animal shelter of your choice.

"Wishing you peace on your next journey."

  • I was deeply saddened to hear of her passing. We were office neighbours for many years. We spent time together at work— long chats in the office or lunches out. She was my cruise mentor. We had planned to reconnect after her 51-day cruise around South America, but sadly we never got the chance. She will be remembered warmly. Gone too soon. My heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her. - Posted by: Carol (Office Neighbour) on: Jun 08, 2026

  • I was so shocked to hear of Karen's passing. I worked with Karen at MBLL and over time her and I became great friends. She was a great listener and always knew how to cheer me up by pulling out her secret stash of chocolate that she kept hidden from everyone but me.....or so she said. I will miss our Summertime dinners on the patio where we would spend hours just catching each other up on life. Rest in Peace Karen.....I will miss you. Sending sincere condolences to her family. - Posted by: Michelle Wilson ((Former Co-Worker & Friend)) on: Jun 08, 2026

  • Lynn, Dean and Steve (and family) - I am so very saddened to learn of your loss. May Karen's memory be a blessing to you all. I first met Karen in 2012, when I moved over from liquor to work with her in the First Nations department. Always steadfast and dedicated in her role, she was a real wealth of knowledge. She was always willing to provide guidance or assistance -- especially when it came to travel planning! If she wasn't so proficient at her job, she could have easily been one of the best travel planners in our city! Her passion for travel was contagious and the few times we spoke following her retirement in 2024, that was always the main topic of conversation. She will be sorely missed. - Posted by: Todd Shewchuk (Coworker) on: Jun 08, 2026

  • Lynn, Dean and Steve. I am so very sorry to hear about Karen's passing. Many childhood memories of time spent with your family at my Aunt Fran & Uncle Finn's. I also bowled many years with Karen and always enjoyed her friendship and camaraderie. Take comfort knowing she is back with your mom & dad.
