DENNIS JOSEPH WELCHINSKI

January 24, 1949 - May 24, 2026

Peacefully, surrounded by family, Dennis passed away at Selkirk Regional Health Centre after a courageous battle with cancer.

Dennis was predeceased by his parents, Joe and Anne Welchinski. He is survived by his brothers, Jerry Welchinski (Diane) and Ken Welchinski (Maryanne), sisters, Judy Welchinski and Gail Wiggins (Olaf), nephews, Joey Welchinski (Michelle), Matthew Welchinski (Courtney), Chris Wiggins and Tyrone Welchinski, niece Cathy Addis (Keith), great-nieces, Sophie and Anna Welchinski, and great-nephew Clark Welchinski. He also leaves behind his extended family across the country, many great friends, and wonderful neighbours, as well as his loyal dog Tobi.

Dennis took pride in his career as a credit manager at Uniroyal, followed by Beaver Lumber in Winnipeg. His job moved him to Vancouver, Calgary and finally Edmonton as a shareholder at Nelson Lumber, until his retirement in 2013. After retiring, he returned to Oakbank and enjoyed his passions of fishing, hunting and snowmobiling. He loved the family cottage at Nutimik Lake and spent time there enjoying activities with family and friends.

Any time spent with Dennis was always a time of adventure, fun, laughter and with a deep love for his family. He was generous to a fault and will be greatly missed.

The family is thankful for all the support and condolences throughout this difficult time. Special thanks to the staff at Selkirk Hospital for the care provided for Dennis in his last few months. Donations can be made to CancerCare, Winnipeg Humane Society or a charity of choice.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Dennis at his residence in Oakbank at a later date.
