FREDERICK JAMES (JIM) SIDDALL
Frederick James “Jim” Siddall lived a long, dedicated family-centered life. Born in Peterborough, Ontario, Jim was the eldest child of Arthur and Annie Siddall, growing up in a close-knit household where he developed a strong sense of responsibility, work ethic, and care for others that would define him throughout his life.
Jim began his career in 1957 with Hinde & Dauch Ltd., later called Domtar Inc. (Packaging Division), and steadily advanced through a range of accounting and operational roles. His career took him from Peterborough to Toronto, where he continued to build his professional expertise, before relocating to Winnipeg in 1974. There, he served as Accounting Manager and later transitioned into inside sales, ultimately dedicating over 40 years to the company. His commitment, reliability, and pride in his work reflected a lifelong belief in diligence and doing things well. Even after formally retiring in 2003, he remained connected to his colleagues, occasionally returning to the office.
In 1972, Jim married Kristine (nee Rogers), and together they built a meaningful life after their move to Winnipeg. He was a dedicated father to Allyson and Kevin, and his presence shaped their lives in lasting ways. Jim was actively involved in his children’s upbringing—coaching soccer, preparing family meals, maintaining the home, and supporting their academic pursuits. His consistent encouragement and thoughtful insights, particularly during his son’s university architecture presentations, reflected both his attentiveness and pride.
Jim was especially known for his hands-on approach to life. Over four decades, he continuously improved his home, approaching each renovation with care, precision, and a commitment to doing things “the right way.” These experiences not only reflected his craftsmanship and patience but also served as an example to his son, ultimately being partial inspiration for Kevin’s path into architecture.
He also appreciated the quieter moments—Sunday walks, time in the garden, and family gatherings - finding fulfilment in routine, connection, and simple pleasures.
Jim was predeceased by his wife Kristine, his longtime partner Emily Dyck, his parents, and several close family members. He is lovingly remembered by his children, Allyson and Kevin, their families, his grandchildren, and his extended family, all of whom carry forward his values of care, dedication, and integrity.
He passed away peacefully in Winnipeg at the age of 87. Jim’s life is remembered as one of steady commitment and practical wisdom - a legacy that continues through the family he raised and the example he set.
A Celebration of Jim's Life will be held on June 24, 2026, for 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home & Cemetery, 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB.
