GRANT DOUGLAS ANDERSON
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of our brother, husband, uncle and friend, Grant Douglas Anderson.
After spending 54 days in the hospital this spring, he was bound and determined to have some fun. He went out on his terms, travelling to BC by train, breaking in a brand-new motorcycle zipping around the Island visiting friends and family along the way. Unfortunately, his trip was cut short but we take comfort in knowing that he was having fun for as long as it lasted.
Grant was born in Winnipeg and grew up in Fort Garry where he made many friends and lifelong connections. In 1978, he moved into a little house in St. Boniface where he lived for the remainder of his life. Through his fun-loving adventurous spirit, he made many more friends or as he would say 'best buddies' or 'nice guys'. While in this house, he met the love of his life Lorene. Grant and Lorene were married and together raised several dogs. Grant spent the majority of his working career at Pepsi-Co as a successful Quality Control Manager. While there, he developed personal relationships which remained until his passing.
Grant had many friends, but his true best buddy and constant companion was his little dog, Rodger. Grant will rest easy knowing that Rodger is loved and living out his retirement years in comfort and style.
Grant was very sociable so naturally he liked to have fun. He often became animated telling jokes and stories that lead to laughter amongst anyone within earshot. He was always up for doing almost anything if it meant having fun with friends or even first-time acquaintances. He also loved to go fast, ......really, really fast. He would push the limits of any motorized machine, be it a car, boat, motorcycle, dirt bike, or snowmobile. He loved to talk about the peak performance of these machines quoting rpms, mphs, and kphs with sheer joy in his voice.
Grant was predeceased by his parents, George and Doreen Anderson. Lorene's passing in 2012 left a void that Grant could never overcome. Another difficult void to process was the more recent passing of his older brother, John Anderson. We take comfort in knowing that he is at peace with them both. Left to mourn Grant's passing are sisters, Laura (Dave) and Dianne, nephew Devan (Sabine, great-nephew Jaylen), nieces, Annie (Bretton) and Shayla.
We appreciate the outpouring of support and condolences from those who knew him. A Celebration of Life will be held later this fall. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice in Grant's memory.

Grant and I hadn't seen each other since around 1984 it was great to see him and both still riding. Although short we did get to ride on the island something we talked about while searching for corners in MB. I'm sure he is riding the balls off his bike as we speak. Grant was a soft hearted individual and his impish smile and laugh will resound in my memory until my time comes. The stories are many, being part of his Family (& him of mine) for 30 years (was married to his Sister Dianne) and they are all colorful to say the least. Grant would give you the shirt off his back and loved nature (rescued baby birds as a youth, dog lover) and his independence. I'm proud to have known him and honoured to have been his friend for decades. A true pillar of Fort Garry.
