ANNELIESE KUNZE

(nee FOERSTER)

February 17, 1940 - July 1, 2026

In the afternoon of Canada Day, 2026, our beloved mother, Omi and friend was carried into heaven to meet her Lord and Saviour. Waiting for her with open arms were her husband Charles Gustav Kunze, her parents Georg and Berta Foerster, her brothers John and George Foerster, her sister-in-law Gisela Foerster, mother-in-law Martha Kunze, nephew Fred Foerster, good friend Karl Eisbrenner and many other friends and relatives. Those left behind to mourn are her children: Andrea (Werner) Wicha, Christine Kunze and Robert (Michelle) Kunze, and grandchildren Corey, Benjamin, Daniel, Aaron and Alexandria.

Born to Georg and Berta Foerster on 17 February 1940 in Lodz/Litzmannstadt Poland, she immigrated to Canada with her family on December 16, 1950 (Halifax) and then relocated to Winnipeg. She met her future husband Charles and was married on August 11, 1962, at McDermot Avenue Baptist Church, where they shared both their love of Christ and their German heritage. They devoted their lives to their family, both near and far, with love and self-sacrifice. She and Charlie both volunteered tirelessly to enrich the lives of the residents of Meadowood Manor. Anneliese had a kind, empathetic and generous heart, and a close relationship with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. She devoted herself to scripture and prayer, modelling her life after the Peace Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi: ‘Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.’

We would like to thank all of the friends and families for their support and love throughout Anneliese's life, and especially in the last 5 years. We are indeed blessed.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at McDermot Avenue Baptist Church, with an interment to follow at Chapel Lawn Cemetery. The service will be available to watch over Zoom, please find the link at https://www.friendsfs.ca/.

A visitation will take place from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street, Winnipeg.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Siloam Mission, the Alzheimer's Society, or Meadowood Manor.
