THOMAS BRIAN (TRIGGER) TROSKY

June 29, 1942 - July 1, 2026

Passed away peacefully at home July 1, 2026, aged 84, his dog Covy at his feet.

Tom lived like a legend, and died like one too.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sharon Kenny Trosky, and his loving family.

When asked what he’d say to God first, Tom replied: "Where’s the first tee box?" Knowing him, he’s already found it - right after asking where he left his glasses.

Toast to Trigger: Saturday, July 18, 2026, 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Kingswood Golf Club. In lieu of flowers, bring Sharon wine.

  • Dear Sharon and family , We are so saddened by Toms passing and he will be dearly missed. Working with Sharon at the Pain Clinic was always so entertaining as she told us comical stories of Tom and his antics ,one of which we laughed about very recently when the RCMP came and said “ we have a missing Gigi .” as one of the grand kids couldn’t find Tom in the house and called 911. We have known Tom for over 23 years and his kind and calm personality will not be forgotten. He had a way of telling a really good story , and we will miss him. • I started my teaching career at John Taylor in 1997. Trigger taught there at that time. I remember those days well and have find memories of Tom's wit and sense of calm. One of my proudest moments is when he ask me to be his golf partner in a divisional staff golf league. He shaped a lot of how I golf and how I teach. I remember his dedication to kids through teaching and the many hours he spent behind the bench coaching the Pipers hockey team (a championship one too). A good man who will be missed by many. - Posted by: Andrew Mead (Colleaugue) on: Jul 11, 2026

  • I debated for a bit and decided it’s important to let people know (everyone probably does already ) Mr Trosky left such an impression on me as a young lad. Golden Gate Circa mid 70s. ! Mr Trosky just oozed coolness and calm at the time. Signature dark glasses and calm demeanour . I never had him as a teacher but his impact was lasting. I remember watching the Canada Russia hockey series in the gym and Mr Trosky was so intense and shouting at the game and did this funky dance after Canada scored. Thanks for being part of my adventure Mr Trosky. ! - Posted by: Colin (Former student) on: Jul 11, 2026

  • I started teaching with Tom in Golden Gate and he with a few others were my support system during my first years in the junior high system. We were a team that supported each other through thick and thin. - Posted by: Connie Newman (friend from the past) on: Jul 11, 2026

Tom had such a great sense of humour and was usually game for anything that his dear wife Sharon planned ., We were always included in activities with the Speirs / Trosky clan . The dinner parties were outstanding at your beautiful home . May your great memories live on forever. Tom was a great person , and we will truly miss him . - Posted by: Marilyn & Terry Cooper (Good friend) on: Jul 11, 2026

  • I was deeply saddened to read of Tom's passing. We lived kitty corner across the street from you and Tom on Dohaney Cres. back in the '70's. I always remember Tom as a fun loving neighbour. One of my clearest and fondest memories is Tom's 50th birthday when you wrote "Happy 50th, Tom" on a big white sheet and posted it in the front yard. The entire neighbourhood got a chuckle that day! My deepest condolences at this difficult time. The tide recedes but leaves behind bright seashells on the sand. The sun goes down, but gentle warmth still lingers on the land. The music stops, and yet it echoes on in sweet refrains… For every joy that passes, something beautiful remains. Anonymous - Posted by: Val Bishop (Krentz) (former neighbour) on: Jul 11, 2026

  • Mr. Trotsky taught me both Grade 10 & 11 English at John Taylor Collegiate around 1997-98. I earned the accolade of “Ace” in his class for being the individual that generally scored the highest in his class, only finding out later that every class had an “Ace” haha. Generally being quite shy, I would try to avoid eye contact with Mr. Trotsky whenever he would ask the class a question. You know that as soon as his eyes locked with yours and he cracked a smile, you were targeted for answering the question! He introduced us to Shakespeare (Othello definitely being my favourite), and definitely helped with my love of reading to this day. Thank you for everything Mr. Trosky, you will be missed! - Posted by: Corey (Former Student) on: Jul 11, 2026
