VENETTA JUNE BOLTON
It is with heavy hearts that we announce Venetta's passing shortly after the celebration of her 89th birthday on June 22, 2026. She passed peacefully after a long illness.
Venetta was born on June 22, 1937 in Birnie, Manitoba to Roland and Louise Higgins. She is predeceased by her parents; her siblings - Doreen, Murray, Leonard, Verla, Shirley; in-laws, Muriel and Arnold Bolton; partner of 12 years Fred Sparling; brother-in-law Harvey Bolton; daughter - Anita Bolton and grandson - Cory Bolton.
Mourning her loss are her children, Rick, Randy (Cindy), Ron, Noreen, Ladeana Unrau (Wilf); grandchildren: David Bolton (Jamie), Krystal and Tyler Unrau, as well as great-grandchild Kacey Bolton. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Venetta Bolton grew up in Birnie, Manitoba as the youngest of six siblings. She moved to Winnipeg at the age of 17 to begin her life there. She had six children she raised on her own with help from her in-laws, (lovingly known as Nan and Gramps) and other family members. In her early years she worked various jobs as a waitress and a textile worker. She went on to work and eventually retire from C-Mac Electronic Ind.
Venetta was known for her quick wit and easy-going personality, always ready with a listening ear. She greeted the day with a smile, as well as everyone she met. She had a generous heart and had trouble saying no to anyone in need.
She enjoyed spending time with her grandkids, taking them to the park or a movie. She had many different hobbies/interests including dancing, curling, golf, floor shuffle and shuffleboard. She was an avid bingo player, and liked to crochet and bake. She was always in for a game of crib at home or at the legion. She frequently volunteered at the tuck shop in her building and making perogies at the Dufferin Senior Centre.
The family wish to extend their gratitude to the Manitoba Palliative Care Program for their expert and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choosing.
A private family service will be held in her honour as per her wishes.

As youngsters we would holiday at each home. I lived in Springhill which was about 5 miles from Neepawa. Over the years we lost touch until about 10 years ago when we met playing whist. Sorry for your loss she was a great lady. - Posted by: Beverley Gatin (Wicks) (First cousin) on: Jul 11, 2026
