JOSEPH KULASZA
Peacefully with his wife and sons by his side, Joseph "Jozef" Kulasza of Winnipeg, MB, aged 81 years, passed away on July 8, 2026 at Holy Family Home after a lengthy illness.
Jozef was born in Poland and after graduating trade school was employed by the Polish National Railway. Upon completing two years’ service in the Polish Army Airforce division, he immigrated to Canada with his wife and son in 1971.
His early years in Canada were spent working many different labour jobs while taking evening English classes. In 1973 he joined the Canadian National Railway, working as a machinist in Symington Yard Diesel Shop for over 30 years.
Jozef enjoyed being outdoors and had a talent for being able to build or repair just about anything he put his mind to.
His favourite hobby was gardening. He loved tending to his vegetable garden, apple and cherry trees, and was always happy to share his delicious harvest with his friends and neighbours.
He is survived by his wife Mieczyslawa (Michelle), sons, Leszek and Michael, as well as his brother, sisters, and many family members and friends, here in Canada and in Poland.
He was predeceased by his father Stanislaw in 1991 and mother Stanislawa in 1988.
Jozef’s family would like to extend their most heartfelt thanks and deepest gratitude to everyone at Holy Family Home, particularly the wonderful nurses, aides, and support staff on the Sacred Heart ward, who provided such dedicated and loving care in his time of illness.
Rosary will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at 10:30 a.m., with Funeral Mass beginning at 11:00 a.m., St. Andrew Bobola Parish, 541 Marion Street. Burial to follow at St. Boniface Cemetery, Archibald St. Officiating Clergy: Fr. Janusz Maron.
