Lloyd (Fred) Harness passed away peacefully on July 3, 2026, leaving his home at the Wawanesa Personal Care Home to be reunited with his beloved wife, June, whom he missed dearly. At 97 years of age, Lloyd was ready to leave this world, finding comfort in the thought of being with the love of his life once again.
Lloyd was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on August 13, 1928. He grew up on a family farm near the community of St. Rose du Lac and attended a nearby country school. As a young man, he left the farm and moved to Brandon, where he began working as a driver for Wally's Taxi. Before long, he joined McArthur Trucking, and after a brief career there, he found his calling as a Correctional Officer with the Province of Manitoba at the Brandon Correctional Institution on Victoria Avenue East. During his years at BCI, Lloyd formed many lifelong friendships. He retired from the Brandon Correctional Institution on Brandon's North Hill in 1991.
Lloyd was predeceased by his loving wife, June; their son, Jim; his brother; and his two sisters. He is lovingly remembered by several nieces and a nephew.
A celebration of Lloyd's life will be held on Friday, July 24, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Brockie Donovan Funeral Chapel, 332-8th Street, Brandon, Manitoba.
Lloyd will be remembered for his quiet strength, his years of dedicated public service, and the deep love he held for his family and friends.
