DEBORAH JOANNE NORRIS
Deborah Joanne Norris, of Winnipeg, Manitoba, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2026, surrounded by family.
Born on June 2, 1952, in Neepawa, Manitoba, to her parents, Arnold and Wilma Buchanan.
Deborah moved around a lot with her family and ended up in Calgary, Alberta where she started her own family. In 1988, Deborah moved to Winnipeg as a single mother for better opportunities. She worked two jobs and put herself through school graduating with a HR Certificate from Red River College. In 1989, Deborah began working at Conviron, where she retired in June 2018 as the International Sales Coordinator. She took great pride in her work, which gave her the opportunity to travel to many beautiful places throughout Europe, with Italy and Turkey being two of her favourites. It was also at Conviron where she met some of her closest friends, Bill, Chuck, and her very best friend, Sharon Reid.
Beyond her professional life, Deborah was passionate about her house and her garden. Her flower beds were pristine; her grass was like walking on pillows and not a pinch of dust could be found in her home.
She will be remembered most for her no BS attitude, sense of humour, hard work and her dedication to her mother, daughter, granddaughters, and grand-dogs.
Deborah is survived by her mother Wilma Buchanan; daughter Michelle Norris (Colin), grandchildren, Danika Coward (Brady), Monaco Gederon, her granddog Benny and her sister Dawn Johnston (Ralph). Deborah was predeceased by her father Arnold Buchanan.
In true Deborah Norris fashion, Deborah chose not to have a ceremony. Cancer took Deborah’s life. In her memory, her family asks that if you are experiencing pain, you advocate for yourself: request a CT scan, and don’t stop until you get one. Thank you to all the nurses and doctors that have cared for Deborah along the way.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to CancerCare Manitoba, or Palliative Manitoba.
