Vilemini passed away on Monday, July 13, 2026, at the age of 92. To those close to her she was affectionately known as "Mini".
She was born and raised in Patras, Greece, and held strong affection for her homeland, family and Church. She studied nursing, and along with three fellow nurses, she moved to Winnipeg in 1959.
Through nursing she met her future husband, Frank Penkalla. After a short courtship my Uncle proposed, and the two wed in 1962.
Auntie Mini and Uncle Frank took early retirement, spending much time at their cottage in Point de Bois. Whether we were fishing, blueberry picking, visiting with friends, or enjoying epic game nights, time spent there was a blast!
Auntie Mini was a wonderful cook. Her meatballs and lemon potatoes were legendary! She was the life of every party, where you would undoubtedly find her dancing the Majorca. She was not shy; she was bold, and lived each day with joy, kindness, and a zest for life. What a wonderful legacy to leave behind!
