It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Britta Elisabet Tittlemier, who passed away peacefully on July 11, 2026, at the age of 74, after a courageous battle with cancer. Surrounded by the love of her family, Britta faced her illness with strength, dignity, and grace.
Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Britta lived a life defined by family, kindness, humour, and generosity. She was the beloved wife of James Tittlemier for 56 years and a loving mother to her two children, Lisa and Kurt. She was a proud grandmother to Emma, Jorja, Selah, and Theo, and cherished her relationships with family and friends.
The daughter of a Dutch immigrant, Britta spent her childhood in Winnipeg, the Netherlands, and Australia before eventually settling in Seven Sisters, Manitoba. There, she met her life partner, James. They remained deeply in love throughout their 56 years of marriage.
Britta was a devoted wife and mother who loved bringing people together and was affectionately known as the "glue" of our family. From Christmas dinners and birthday celebrations to fundraising efforts and endless emotional support, she devoted herself to caring for those around her.
Britta operated a catering business with her mother and served as President of the Assiniboine South Youth Choir. She found great joy in gardening, volunteering, music, and, above all, spending time with her grandchildren. Despite facing cancer with remarkable courage and grace, her greatest source of strength remained her family and the many people who loved her.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her sister, Ingrid (Jerry); her cousin Neil (Charlene) and her nieces and nephews, Brian (Sheila), Shelly (Floyd), and Mark (Laura), Trevor, Sheryl (Dave), Brenda and Amber (Brad).
Britta was predeceased by her daughter, Lisa (Darren), mother, Gerda, and her sister, Silva.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and caregivers at CancerCare Manitoba for their compassionate care and support.
A Celebration of Life will be held on July 22, 2026, at 11:30 am at Brokenhead River Community Hall, 320 Veterans Lane, Beausejour, Manitoba. Lunch will follow the service. Interment will take place at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, River Hills, Manitoba, at 3:00 pm.
