WILLIAM FERGUSON After a courageous battle with cancer on September 30, 1999 at Riverview Health Center with family by his side Bill, at 79 years, passed away peacefully. Puppa as his grandchildren and great-grandchildren called him, was born in Winnipeg, MB on January 7, 1920. He had an active life and was very involved in the community. He served as president of the Charleswood curling club and was a member of the Charleswood golf club for many years. His work career was long and varied. He retired as Superintendent of the Greater Winnipeg Gas Company at age 65. Previous to that he was a certified plumber and worked in the trade with his older brother Dick. Predeceased by his wife Joan; granddaughter Krista; and siblings, Richard, Ruth, and Eric. His surviving relatives, Audrey, Sheila, Kate, Helen, Nancy (Mert), Barb (Lloyd), Bob (Elaine), Victor, Roy (Ann), Nora (Cliff), Evy (Frank) and their families will miss Bill. Daughters, Glenys (Lawrie) and Pamela; grandchildren, Lorne (Cheryl), Lisa (Clayton), Glenys ( Bruce) and Ryan; and great-grandchildren, Alexander, Jessie and Meaghan will cherish our many memories. The family wishes to thank the caring staff on the palliative unit at Riverview Health Center. Their compassion and caring helped make a difficult time manageable. To the staff on E3 we will miss your companionship! In keeping with Bills wishes there will be a gathering of friends and family at the Charleswood Legion on Roblin Boulevard at 2:00 p.m. on October 12 to celebrate his long and full life.
