Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN G. (JACK) BRUCE John G. (Jack) Bruce passed away in Kelowna, BC on November 8, 1999 at the age of 80 years. Survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Vera; son Ian Bruce of Halifax, NS; daughter Janet Lowe (Dal) of Edmonton, AB; two grandsons, Daniel (Terry) and Martin Lowe of Edmonton; two great-grandsons, Tyler and Mathew; sister Catherine Bruce of Kelowna; two brothers, Robert (Dorothy) and Douglas (Louise), both of Halifax; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Jack served in the Canadian Navy in the Second World War from 1939 to 1945, remaining in service until 1966. Jack retired in 1979 and moved from Halifax to Kelowna, enjoying his retirement years. Jack was a 50-year member of the Keith Lodge No. 17 in Halifax and was a member of the C.P.O. Association; Atlantic, Esquimalt and Kelowna Naval Veterans Associations; Kelowna Legion and Kelowna Travel Trailer Club. A service will be held on Friday, November 12 at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Rd., Kelowna, with Padre Dick Fletcher officiating. Donations, if desired, may be made to the Kelowna General Hospital Foundation - Respiratory Unit, 2268 Pandosy St., Kelowna, BC V1Y 1T2.
