MAX KAPLAN 1917 - 1999 It is with great sadness that we mark the passing of Max Kaplan. Max was predeceased by Rose, his wife of 46 years, and his sister Betty and brothers, Sam and Sid. He is survived by his wife Ida; his children, Sharon and Mel Myers and Brian and Renee Kaplan and his grandchildren, Noel (Joan), Paul and Sarah Myers and Harris and Rachel Kaplan. He is also survived by his sisters, Mary Freedman and Ziona Levin, his brother-in-law Issy Wolch and many dear nieces, nephews and friends. Max was one of six children, born during very hard times. He learned early on a work ethic and resourcefulness that spanned his life. After serving in the RCAF in the Second World War he founded Acme Chrome Furniture Co. and under his direction it became one of the leading chrome furniture companies in Canada. Max was a most loving and devoted husband, father and Zaida. He had a special relationship with each of his grandchildren, they adored him. Max maintained a sense of humour through his adversity and died with great dignity. Pallbearers were his beloved grandchildren, Noel, Paul and Sarah Myers, Rachel and Harris Kaplan and his nephew Hart Kaplan. He will be very much missed by us all. Donations in his memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice. Shiva will be observed at 299 Yale Ave.
