Zach was born in Brookland, New York, one of seven children. He served in the United States Airforce and was stationed briefly in Vietnam. Zach moved to Canada in 1977, and made his home in Winnipeg, where he has made many good friends. He was employed by Discovery Canada for 13 years, but was forced to retire early due to illness. He took an avid interest in watching all sports and listening to his extensive music collection. He was proud to be a member of the Church of the Rock and cherished the friendships he made there. Predeceased by his parents, a brother and his mother-in-law Dalis Kendall. He leaves to cherish his memory his ex-wife and best friend, Phyllis Howard; sisters, Edna, Frances, Caroline, Diane and Cheryl, as well as nieces and nephews. Zach was a good, kind and generous friend who will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Funeral service will be held in Brookland, New York, U.S.A. A memorial service will be held locally at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Zachs memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Assoc., 102 - 310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 0S6. Do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there. I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow. I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle autumns rain. When you awake in the mornings hush, I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry. I am not there. I did not die.
