Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARIA FAST (nee EPP) It is with sadness that we bid farewell to our beloved wife, mother, Oma and great-grandmother. Mary died peacefully on March 1, 2000 at Concordia Hospital. Born in southern Russia on February 6, 1910, Mary immigrated to Canada with her family in 1924. After their marriage in 1929, she and John spent most of their life in the Whitewater/Boissevain area. They moved to Winnipeg in 1989, took up residence at Kingsford Haus and joined the Springfield Heights Mennonite Church. Mary enjoyed gardening, reading, quilting, knitting, baking and spending time with her family. She was a woman of strong faith and generous heart. Mary will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 70 years, John J.; her children, Elsie Neufeld, Jack (Rita), Vern (Agnes), Helen Bergen (Ben), Hank (Barbara) 19 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. Surviving also are four sisters and one brother. She was predeceased by two sons-in-law, Hugo Hildebrand and Peter Neufeld; one grandson and one great-grandson. Viewing will be held from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m., Friday, March 3 at the Klassen Funeral Chapel, 1897 Henderson Hwy. The funeral service will be at Springfield Heights Mennonite Church, 570 Sharron Bay at DeFehr on Saturday, March 4 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mennonite Central Committee or Habitat for Humanity, Winnipeg. Arrangements entrusted to Klassen Funeral Chapel, 338-0331.
