JOAN D. PANTING The family of Joan D. Panting is saddened to announce her passing on May 2, 2000 at the age of 74. Joan was born in Winnipeg on September 1, 1925 to William and Erla Henderson. She spent her life involved in sports including the St. Vital Tigerettes softball team, remaining close to a number of her team mates over the years. Joan also competed in speed skating where she met her beloved Bill Panting. From 16 they raced together and married at 21. Summers were spent at Falcon Lake where they were members of the Falcon Yacht Club. She enjoyed being active in her church and the U.C.W. Joan raised and supported her children while Bill worked as an engineer for C.P. Rail. They enjoyed 49 years of marriage until Bills death in 1995. As well as her loving husband, Joan is predeceased by her brother Bill Henderson. She is survived by her son Dave with children Elizabeth and Christopher Panting; daughters, Georgina and Deanna with Deannas son Dante Pollo. She is also mourned by daughters-in-law Roxanne and Jayne and son-in-law Don. We know that Joan is relieved to once again be holding Bills hand as she missed his presence in her life terribly. Although comforted by great friends such as Marguerite, Grace, Gladys and Evelyn, among others, her heart longed to be with her Bill. We can see her smile as she once again rests her head on his shoulder. God bless you Mom (Nana) and may you truly have peace in your heart. Memorial service will be at Oxford United Church, 621 Oxford (at Fleet) at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, May 7.
