FEDORKIE 1918 - 2000 John Peter Fedorkie passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 4, 2000 at the Grace General Hospital at the age of 82 years. He leaves to mourn his passing and to cherish his memory his loving wife of 55 years, Elizabeth (Ella) his daughter Janice (Arvid) Peterson and their son, Kurtis; his son Gordon (Orla) Fedorkie and their children, Krysten and Chad; his sisters, Mary Melnyk and Matilda Melcosky; his brothers, Paul (Mary) and Steve (Rosalin) as well as numerous nieces and nephews. John was born and raised in Sandy Lake, Man. He served in the armed forces during the Second World War before returning to farm in the Newdale area. He moved to Winnipeg in 1953 where he worked for the Royal Alexander Hotel. He later worked for Modern Building Cleaning Co. as Operations Manager until his retirement in 1978. John and Ella enjoyed traveling extensively including trips to Europe, Africa, Australia, and Russia to name a few. John enjoyed keeping busy throughout his entire life and he will be remembered as the local handyman who was considered the "energizer bunny." Prayers will be held Tuesday, November 7 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Basils Ukrainian Catholic Church, 202 Harcourt St. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated Wednesday, November 8 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Basils Ukrainian Catholic Church with Father Isidore Dziadyk, O.S.B.M. officiating. Interment will follow at a later date. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nursing staff of the Grace General Hospital, 3rd floor for their special care and attention given to Dad. In lieu of flowers, donations in Johns memory can be made to St. Basils Elevator Fund, 202 Harcourt St.R3J 3H3, or to the charity of your choice, as tokens of remembrance.
