DIONICIO DeVERA AUSTRIA "DADDY COACH" At age 66, after a short battle with renal failure, we are saddened to announce the passing of a beloved father, brother and uncle, Dionicio DeVera Austria who passed away on December 12, 2000 at the Calamba Doctors Hospital in Laguna, Philippines. Born on November 17, 1934, he spent much of his life in Laguna, Philippines. He came to join his loving children in Canada in 1996. He returned to the Philippines in 1998 where he intended to stay for good. He was later diagnosed with renal failure and began his courageous battle. His former wife, Lucy Nolan and their six children and their families mourn his passing: Beth (Jun) De Castro, Eppie (Mike) Antosh-Austria, Dennis (Tonette) Austria, Alex (Nhelda) Austria, Jannette (Don) Lanzar-Austria, and Ailleen (Quincy) Odurugbuye-Austria; his precious grandchildren, Jericho and Joey De Castro, Lucille and Bradley Austria-Antosh, Daniel and Angelique Austria, Jandro and Jordyn Austria, Joshua Opaleke-Austria and Malique Odurugbuye-Austria. He leaves behind his sisters, Maring Gamboa, Nena Javier and Ebeng Velarde; nieces and nephews, friends and co-workers and relatives in Laguna and Quezon, Philippines. He was buried by his daughter Jannette in Calamba Laguna, Philippines at the Roman Catholic Cemetery on December 19, where he is predeceased by his parents, Paula and Pedro Austria. Our family would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Cabuyao family (Piya, Imbong and Marlon), Tito Jun and Tita Edith, Banaticla family (Kuya Reny and Ate Pida), Dionicio Funeraria (Kuya Pete and Ate Loly), Cruz family (Kuya Jun and Ate Melda), Ate Eva and Kuya Piping, Kuya Larry, Mr. Reny Bunyi, Mayor Lajara, the staff at the Calamba Doctors Hospital and Ursula Burgos and to everyone whose names we may not have mentioned. Thank you for all your love and support through this very difficult time. A memorial service will be held this Friday, December 29 at 2:30 p.m. at the St. Ignatius Church, 255 Stafford St. in Winnipeg. The mass will be celebrated by Fr. Monty. A small gathering will follow at the basement of the church (475-6200).
