RUSSEL BRUCE FINLAYSON It is with deep sadness that Joan Finlayson announces the death of her dearly beloved husband and soul mate, Russel, on January 23, 2001. Russ will be sadly missed by his loving wife Joan and stepson Patrick; sister Ruth Finlayson of Montreal and sons, Ian (Debbie) and Gordon of Toronto; and brother-in-law Terry Aseltine, wife Diane, niece Lauren and nephew Paul. Russ was born and raised in Montreal, PQ, where he attended Loyola College. He was associated with Dominion Textile Ltd. for many years and was transferred from Montreal to Winnipeg in 1969 where he held the position of District Manager. Prior to his retirement, he was associated with Radio Shack in the capacity of store manager at Winnipeg Square. Russ and Joan enjoyed 28 wonderful years together, sharing many happy times at their cottage at Ingolf, ON. They also shared memorable vacations in Hawaii, California, Alaska and Montreal. Russ was an avid reader and enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and woodworking. Russ was very courageous in his illness with heart disease. He never complained about his discomfort and always managed a sunny smile through difficult times, never losing his good sense of humour. A Service of Remembrance will be held on Friday, February 2 at 11:00 a.m. in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1501 Waverley St. The family wishes to express thanks to the doctors and nursing staff at St. Boniface Hospital for their attentive care. Also a special thanks to the Winnipeg Paramedic Service for their prompt and efficient response to our needs. Flowers are gratefully declined. If desired, donations may be made in Russels memory to Research Foundation, Heart Fund, St. Boniface Hospital, 409 Tache, Room D1003, Winnipeg, MB R2H 2A6.
