MAURICE LABOSSIERE It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Maurice Labossiere, aged 72, on Wednesday, May 2, 2001, at the Lorne Memorial Hospital in Swan Lake, Manitoba. Mauricess memory will be forever cherished by his loving wife of 32 years, Lucille (nee Payette) daughters, Rosanne, Denise and husband Denis Van Den Bussche, and granddaughter Meghan; three sisters, Laurianna (Joe Remillard), Hermance and husband Robert Labossiere, and Solange and husband William Norrie; a brother-in-law Jean Hacault (Odile) sisters-in-law, Rachel and husband Arthur Labossiere, Monique and husband Anthony Ahle, Yvette (Emile) and Dianne (Denis). He was predeceased by his mother Rose in 1964, his father Nazaire in 1972; brothers, Romeo in 1934, Norman in 1973, Lucien in 1976, Roger in 1988, Emile in 1998, and Denis in 1999; sisters, Hortense in 1921, Denise in 1947, and Odile in 1988. Maurice was born on the family farm in Saint-Leon on February 10, 1929. He worked there from an early age, then took on another job as orderly at the Tache Hospital in St. Boniface from 1957 - 1969. He married Lucille Payette on February 8, 1969 and moved to Somerset the same year. They had two beautiful daughters, Rosanne and Denise. He held a variety of jobs over the next few years including farming, home care attendant, and maintenance worker for the Mountain School Division until retirement. He loved camping, gardening, household repairs, bird watching and meeting his friends for coffee "at a regular time and place". What he enjoyed the most was spending time with his wife, children and precious grandchild. He never thought twice of throwing himself on the floor to play with his little Meghan, and loved watching the birds outside his window with her, creating a bond between them that will forever remain. Pallbearers will be nephews, Victor Remillard, Francis Labossiere, Gerald Rheault, Jim Norrie, Eyves Labossiere and brother-in-law Jean Payette. Prayers will be held on Friday, May 4 at 8:00 p.m. at Adams Funeral Home in Notre Dame de Lourdes. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Notre Dame de la Nativite Roman Catholic Church in Somerset, Man., on Saturday, May 5 at 3:00 p.m. with Father Celestin Malengu Mubaya officiating. Interment will follow at the Somerset Catholic Cemetery in Somerset, Man. As an expression of sympathy, friends or family may send memorial donations to Palliative Care Unit, Box 40, Swan Lake, MB, R0G 2S0.
