HELDER SOARES PIRES It is with deep sadness we announce the sudden passing of Helder on Thursday, May 3, 2001 at Victoria General Hospital, in Winnipeg at the age of 71 years. Helder will be lovingly remembered by his children, Isabel and Christina (Livy) Machado and their mother Maria de Jesus, grandchildren, Tiago, Mara, Sonia, Danny and Kelsey. Helder dedicated his life to the military armed forces of Portugal, from which he honourably retired at the age of 65. His later years were mainly dedicated to his grandchildren who were his pride and joy. He fulfilled his dream of providing a better life for them and his dream will live on through them. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, May 9, at 11:00 a.m. in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1501 Waverley St. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment to follow in Waverley Memorial Gardens. The family wish to extend special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of the ICU for their efforts and care.
