LOUIS SPELIERS Peacefully on May 25, 2001 at St. Boniface Hospital, Louis Speliers passed away at the age of 82 years. He will be sadly missed by his wife of nearly sixty years, Simone; son Georges (Sue) grandchildren, Jacques (Susan), Christine (Len) Newman, great-grand-children Jean-Luc and Alexa Speliers, Bethany, Jordan and Faith Newman, Sean and Crystal, his sister Pauline, sister in law Albertine, several nieces and nephews in Belgium as well as numerous friends. He was predeceased by his parents Louis and Rosalie, sister Paula, two brothers in law, his parents in law Jean-Baptiste and Louise Therese Scoys. Louis retired from teaching music and devoted his life serving as secretary-treasurer of the Belgian Veterans Legion Branch #107 R.C.L. also providing his services as bugler for comrades in arms Funerals, till ill health forced him to cease these activities. Louis loved life itself and always gave generously to others. No one was a stranger to him for long, because he believed in the golden rule: Do unto others, as you would have then do unto you. Prayer Vigil will be held Tuesday, May 29 at 7:00 p.m. at P. Coutu Funeral Chapel, 156 Marion St. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, May 30, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Boniface Cathedral, 190 ave. de la Cathedrale. Interment will follow in the Belgian Sacred Heart Cemetery. The family extends sincere gratitude to the staff of St. Boniface Hospital I.C.M. and Fifth Floor and especially Drs. Tamera Lockhart and Ming. As per Louis request, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 2B7. P. COUTU & CO.
