Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLYAL ALBERT PRESTON It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Lyal Albert Preston on Tuesday, July 24, 2001 at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg. Lyal was born on April 9, 1921, the youngest son of Isaac and Mary Preston. He grew up in Lavinia and received his education at the local school. The family home was destroyed by fire, after which they settled north of Shoal Lake. Lyal ran the farm for his parents until they moved into town. He later met and married Violet (Jo) Knight and together they farmed the family farm until moving into Brandon in 1985. Surviving relatives are his wife Violet of 57 years; son Dennis (Judy) Preston of Russell; daughters, Laural (Robert) Arabsky of Dugald and Wendy (Dennis) Chen of Pinawa; five grandchildren, Chad, Ryan and Scott Preston of Russell, and Alison and Geoffrey Chen of Pinawa; sister-in-law Myra Preston and numerous nieces and nephews. Lyal was an avid sportsman with interests in curling, slow pitch, bowling and billiards. We will miss his sense of humour, his kind spirit and will always treasure the memories. Dear heart we have come to a place in this life Where each of us must stand on our own Our strength has always been with each other But now we must find greater strength Than either of us has ever known For I must walk that last mile And you must go on alone. Funeral service will take place at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, July 27 at Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 Des Meurons St. Interment to follow at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. Special thanks to the staff at St. Boniface Hospital for their care and concern. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cardiac Care Unit at St. Boniface Hospital, 409 Tache Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R2H 9Z9.
