HOWARD ROSCO SMITH Peacefully, on Saturday July 21, 2001, Howard Smith passed away at Deer Lodge Centre after a lengthy illness. Howard is survived by his loving wife Lora of 57 years; son Dave (Carolin) grandson Neal (Krista) his sister Rhoda Pethick; brother Charles (Florence) of North Battleford, SK; and numerous nieces and nephews. Howard was born at Alticane, SK on October 27, 1919, where his parents came from West Virginia to homestead. He served with the RCASC in the Second World War. After the war he remained in Winnipeg working in the automotive industry until poor health forced his early retirement. He was well known for his honesty, integrity and ready smile. Howard was a proud man who fought an ongoing battle for his independence despite his handicaps. The family wishes to thank everyone who cared for and supported him over the years. We would also like to give a special thanks to the Department of Veterans Affairs for the assistance they provided. In compliance with Howards wishes, a private graveside service was held in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to a charity of ones choice. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715
